Dr Manmohan Singh death, ex-prime minister, dies at 92

Manmohan Singh’s loss of life: Singh was finance minister under the then PM P. V. Narasimha Rao and became the architect and the brainchild of financial reforms in 1991. Former high minister Dr Manmohan Singh died on Thursday. He became ninety-two. Singh was admitted to the emergency ward of Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at around 8 p.m. In April, the veteran Congress chief retired from the Rajya Sabha after a 33-year stint inside the Upper House. Dr Manmohan Singh served as the high minister of India from 2004 to 2014. “With profound grief, we tell of the dying of the former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-associated clinical conditions and had a surprising lack of recognition at home on 26 December 2024.

Resuscitative measures have been commenced immediately at home. He was added to the medical emergency at AIIMS, New Delhi, at 8:06 p.m. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 PM,” the AIIMS said in an announcement.

Singh is survived by his wife, Gurcharan Singh, and three daughters. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her mom, Sonia Gandhi, reached the sanatorium as quickly as the information about his hospitalization was recognized.

Singh, who became finance minister beneath the then-top minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, was the architect and brainchild of monetary reforms in 1991. These reforms pulled India from the brink of financial disaster and ushered in a generation of monetary liberalization, widely believed to have modified the direction of India’s economic trajectory.

His leadership earned admiration and respect throughout the celebration strains. Shri Manmohan Singh Ji’s legacy will be to inspire generations in their pursuit of nation-constructing. My heartfelt condolences to his circle of relatives, pals, and admirers.”
